Description
Designed by Sparkman and Stephens and built by Nautor Swan - what a combination! The Swan 36 was the first Swan sailing yacht ever produced and for me certainly one of the most beautiful.
Around 90 boats were built and this was a great period for technical innovation in yacht design with the 36 benefitting from a separated rudder and keel. In 1967 she was labelled a 'fearsome racing machine' by yachting journalists and she still is, not just amongst the classic fleets but this boat has class wins in JOG inshore and offshore series and completed two Fastnet races.
Although classic in pedigree she has the advantages of a GRP hull and deck and whilst there is no shortage of varnished timber, her all-over cover will protect her from the elements. Down below she has the traditional seaman-like layout you'd expect on a Swan, practical at sea with lee cloths on berths and singles easily converted to doubles in port, a spacious saloon and good usable heads and galley.
She has been sympathetically upgraded and meticulously cared for by her highly experienced owners. This is a fine example of a beautiful design, a boat you'd be proud to say was yours. I know I would!
