Spacious, stable, beautifully balanced, fast and responsive. Perfect for day sailing and dinghy cruising.
Much admired boat. Featured Classic Boat (GB), Bateau (Fr) Loisirs Nautique (Fr), Falmouth Classics handbook. In excellent condition.
Tough GRP woven cloth hull construction with wooden decks. Proctor designed National 18 hull. She was first launched as a National 18 in 1972 – and subsequently relaunched as a professionally designed lugsail yawl in 1997. Large self-draining cockpit, with six capacious stowage lockers under the cockpit floor – keeps all the weight of cruising gear in the right place. Ample room to sleep two adults comfortably. Easily sailed by two people (=18 stone) but will take four adults for day sailing. Can also be sailed single handed by competent helm in appropriate conditions.
As well as being such a good cruising dinghy this boat is also effortlessly fast, sailing at 5-7 knots most of the time. Outstanding light weather performance. How quickly do you want to get to the Rally?
