A rare opportunity to buy a professionally-built 19ft Caledonia Yawl, launched in 2017. Beautifully built by Tony Holt of Dorset Wooden Boats for his own use, the boat was his Southampton Boat Show exhibit in September 2016. The yawl was designed by Iain Oughtred, and draws its inspiration from the traditional boats of the Shetland Isles which themselves were influenced by the boats of Norway. The seaworthy double ended hull has a strong sheer, and rigged with an easily-handled balanced lug main and leg o' mutton mizzen. The boat is stable, dry and comfortable for four to six adults. The flat floor has room to sleep two adults under and awning.
Construction is modern epoxy glued lap clinker using Lloyd's registered marine ply and finished in oiled iroko, the boat has built-in fore and aft buoyancy chambers plus enclosed side benches. High quality traditional fittings in bronze, brass an some stainless steel. The outboard well will take a 2-5hp motor. All sails, standing and running rigging are in like-new condition.
The boat has had little use, and comes with a 2.2hp two-stroke Yamaha outboard, all-over fitted cover, a custom-made single-axle trailer (less than 400 miles driven), and a launching trolley. Total trailering weight is approximately 350kg (770lbs).
